Retro Costume Jewelry

Jewelry of the Retro Period shows the influence of Americana motifs combined with Bakelite and other plastic jewelry components.  Bold over-sized jewelry elements and bright colors such as red, yellow, green, and gold were used to create whimsical designs with sunbursts, flowers, ballerinas, and horses.   Jewelry designs of this period emphasized glamour and sophistication.   The retro period is defined as 1935 to around 1950 and has become highly collectible.    The retro period is my favorite era and it has a heavy influence on my work as a designer today.
